SafeAssign Maintenance Sun. Jan. 29, 2012, 6 AM - Noon
SafeAssign will be down for scheduled maintenance on Sunday, January 29, 2012 from 6 AM - Noon. This impacts RamCT users and the users in the RamCT Blackboard pilot.
From Blackboard, the company that maintains SafeAssign:
"During this outage SafeAssign will be unavailable. End-users will not be able to submit papers through SafeAssign during the planned downtime and will receive an error message if they attempt to do so. SafeAssign Originality Reports will not be available to Instructors or Students during the planned downtime, nor will Instructors be able to access SafeAssign Direct Submit. Please make end-users aware of these limitations. Use of SafeAssign can continue as normal after the planned downtime are complete."
We apologize for any inconvenience.
RamCT Blackboard Transition: Migrating fall 2011 RamCT sections
As part of the transition to RamCT Blackboard, we will soon begin migrating the content from all 2,000+ fall 2011 RamCT sections to the new RamCT Blackboard system.
Please note that any content changed/added to a fall 2011 RamCT sections after December 31, 2011 will not be included in the migration to the new system.
Our goal is to complete all of the fall 2011 migrations in order to have content available to instructors in the new RamCT Blackboard system in February 2012.
At that point, instructors will be able to update migrated content or develop brand new content in the RamCT Blackboard system for the summer and fall 2012 terms.
We will continue to keep the campus up to date in regards to the transition timeline, content migration, information sessions, and training/support resources
Additional information on this transition is posted at:

New Version (30) of Java For PC's Recommended For Use with RamCT
Sun Micro's Java version 1.6 update 30 works well with RamCT.
You can download and install this version that we have approved for use with RamCT.
Internet Explorer (IE) 9 Works But Not Validated For Use With RamCT
Microsoft recently released the new Internet Explorer 9 web browser. If you turn on the Compatibility View feature, you should be able to do just about anything in RamCT. Because Compatibility View is needed, the browser is not officially validated for use with RamCT. Internet Explorer 8, with Compatibility View turned on, will also work well with RamCT.
If you experience concerns with IE 9 and RamCT, we recommend downloading and installing the Firefox web browser to access RamCT.
Firefox 5 - 8 Work But Not Validated For Use with RamCT; Latest Updates Break HTML Creator
The latest versions of the Firefox web browser, 5.0.1 through 8.01, are not able to use the HTML Creator feature in RamCT. Though not officially validated, most RamCT users should have no concerns using the latest versions of Firefox with RamCT.
We are working with Blackboard on this issue. Until there is a resolution, if you need to use the HTML Creator feature, we recommend that Windows users try Internet Explorer as their web browser and Mac owners use Safari
If you should have any concerns, please contact us at:

Apple Safari 5 Now Supported For Use With RamCT
Apple's Safari 5 web browser is now supported for use with RamCT.
QuickTime and 64 bit MS Vista/Windows 7 Issue
If you have a Microsoft Vista or Windows 7 PC with a 64 bit operating system, Apple's Quicktime will not display the navigation bar when a .mov file is displayed in a web page. The newly released Quicktime version 7.6.6 fixes this problem. If you have a Vista or Windows 7 64 bit operating system on your laptop or desktop please go to www.quicktime.com and install version 7.6.6.
Old HTML Code Incorrectly Displays Math/Scientific Symbols on Web Pages
In early spring 2010 we discovered older HTML code, “font face =symbol”, can incorrectly display mathematical and scientific symbols on web pages, including pages in RamCT. This issue appears to be more of a concern with Firefox and Safari as opposed to Internet Explorer. Read more..
